Inverter (variable-speed AC)

An inverter air conditioner uses variable-speed electronics to run its compressor at whatever speed the room actually needs, instead of the older fixed-speed design that only knows full-blast ON or fully OFF. A fixed-speed unit cools by switching the compressor on at 100%, overshooting the setpoint, switching off, and repeating — so the temperature swings and every restart is a hard, high-current jolt. An inverter instead ramps the compressor up and down, holding a steady output that matches the heat load: it runs longer at a lower speed rather than cycling hard. That difference drives the three things people actually notice. Running cost: modulating to match the load — instead of repeatedly blasting to full power — is what makes inverters more efficient in real use, which matters in Dubai where the AC runs most of the year (compare the SEER/EER rating, and for the local heat look for a T3 rating). Comfort: a steadier room temperature with fewer swings.
