MCB (miniature circuit breaker)

Also called: miniature circuit breaker, circuit breaker, trip switch

An MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is one of the small switches in your distribution board that automatically cuts power to a circuit when it draws too much current — from an overload (too many appliances at once) or a short circuit. Unlike an old-style fuse you just flip it back on once the fault is cleared. A breaker that trips repeatedly is doing its job and pointing at a real problem: an overloaded circuit, a faulty appliance, or a wiring fault. Resetting it again and again without finding the cause is how small faults become dangerous ones — worth a licensed electrician if it keeps going.
