Plywood (incl. marine / BWP grade)
Also called: ply, marine plywood, bwp plywood, bwr plywood
Plywood is an engineered board made of thin wood veneers (plies) glued in cross-grain layers, which makes it strong, stable and far less prone to warping than solid wood or cheaper board. For the UAE the GRADE matters: ordinary interior plywood is fine for dry joinery, but water-resistant grades — BWR (boiling-water-resistant) and BWP / marine — use water-resistant glue and are the right choice for kitchens, bathrooms, under-sink and other wet or humid areas, where they resist delamination far better than standard MDF or chipboard. It's often chosen over MR-MDF for wet-zone cabinet carcasses because it holds screws well and tolerates moisture. Quality and proper edge-sealing still matter; a joinery specialist can advise on the right grade for the job.
