Powder coating
Also called: powder coat, powder-coated aluminium, electrostatic coating
Powder coating is a finish where a dry powder (pigment plus resin) is electrostatically sprayed onto metal — usually aluminium — then baked in an oven so it melts and cures into a hard, even, durable skin. It's the standard finish for aluminium windows, doors, railings, gates and façade elements in the UAE because, done to a proper specification, it resists fading, chalking and corrosion far better than ordinary paint under intense sun and coastal salt. Quality depends on correct pre-treatment of the metal and the right grade of powder (architectural grades are made for high UV) — a cheap coat over poorly-prepared aluminium chalks and peels early. For fabricating or refinishing aluminium to the right spec, an aluminium fabrication specialist can advise.
