Jumeirah Islands — living on the water, the exterior paint and metalwork seem to corrode fast, what holds up?
We're in a Jumeirah Islands villa right on the water, and the waterside setting seems brutal on the outside of the house, the exterior paint blisters and fades faster than I'd expect, and the metalwork (railings, gate, fittings) corrodes. Is there a finish and a hardware grade that genuinely holds up in this lakeside humidity, or is constant redoing just the price of living on the water? Want to spend once on the right spec.

Living right on the water in Jumeirah Islands genuinely accelerates everything outside, the constant humidity and airborne salts attack finishes and metal far faster than an inland villa, so the answer is spec, not just more frequent redoing. On the walls, what lasts is a proper moisture-tolerant exterior paint system (UV-stable, often elastomeric) over correct prep, and dealing with any spots where damp gets trapped; a cheaper paint or poor prep blisters and fails in this setting within a year or two. On the metalwork, railings, gates and fittings need to be corrosion-resistant from the start, properly galvanised or powder-coated, because untreated or lower-grade steel pits and rusts quickly by the water, and a simple freshwater rinse habit genuinely extends their life. So it's the right exterior system plus corrosion-resistant hardware plus a light maintenance rhythm. A finishing team that knows Jumeirah Islands and waterside villas will spec both for the exposure rather than treat it like a normal plot. Redoing it in cheap materials is exactly what restarts the cycle.
Waterside villa here too, the metalwork was the shock, cheap fittings rusted within a year. Re-doing the railings in proper powder-coated metal and using a real exterior system on the walls made a huge difference. The rinse habit sounds trivial but genuinely helps by the water.
