Conduit (electrical)

Also called: electrical conduit, PVC conduit, cable conduit, GI conduit

Conduit is the protective tube that electrical cables run inside, whether cast into concrete, buried in walls or surface-mounted. It does two jobs: it shields the cable from mechanical damage, heat and moisture, and, because the cable is pulled through rather than buried loose, it lets circuits be rewired or added later without breaking open the wall. In the UAE most concealed domestic wiring runs in PVC conduit, while metal (GI) conduit is used where extra mechanical or fire protection is needed. Getting conduit sizing and routing right at first-fix is what makes a home flexible later, cramming too many cables into undersized conduit causes overheating and makes future changes a nightmare. Running new circuits or a rewire properly is part of a proper house wiring in Dubai job, done at first-fix before the walls are closed.
