RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overload)
Also called: residual current breaker with overload, combined RCD MCB
An RCBO is one device that does the job of an MCB and an RCD together: it trips on overload and short-circuit (like an MCB) *and* on earth leakage (like an RCD), for a single circuit. The practical advantage over a shared RCD protecting a whole group of circuits is discrimination: if there's an earth fault on one circuit, only that RCBO trips, so a single fault doesn't kill the lights, the fridge and everything else at once. That's why modern Dubai boards increasingly use per-circuit RCBOs for important loads. If you get nuisance tripping that takes out several circuits together, or you want a critical circuit to fail independently, moving to RCBOs is a common upgrade — and, like anything at the distribution board, it's a licensed electrician's job, not a DIY swap.
