Aluminium & glass work in a Downtown Dubai high-rise — what's different up high?
Just moved into a high-floor apartment in Downtown and the aluminium sliding doors and big glass panels behave differently to my old low-rise — more wind noise, a draught, and grit getting in.
I am also unsure who is even allowed to work on facade glass this high up. Is aluminium and glass work in a tower a specialist job versus a regular handyman, and what should I know before calling anyone?

Up high it is a different game. External facade and curtain-wall glass usually falls under the building's rules and often needs management approval and proper access, so anything structural or on the outside is specialist work, not a handyman with a ladder. What you can usually sort internally is the sealing — worn gaskets and perimeter silicone that let wind-driven dust and heat past the frames, which is almost certainly your draught (same root cause as rain getting through aluminium frames).
Get the internal seals refreshed first; only escalate to facade work if the glass unit itself has failed. For anything beyond sealing, use proper aluminium and glass specialists who have worked in towers.
One practical thing: in Downtown towers, get written approval from building management before any facade or external glass work. I have seen jobs stopped halfway because the contractor did not clear it, and the resident wore the delay and the cost.
