Remraam apartment windows and balcony glazing are getting tired — what upkeep do these community blocks actually need?
Our Remraam apartment's windows and the balcony glazing are getting tired, the sliders are stiff, there's a bit of a draught and dust seems to get in, and a couple of seals look gone. Is this the point where it all needs replacing, or is there upkeep that brings these community-block windows back? Trying to work out what's a simple fix versus a real expense, since a lot of flats here have the same setup.

Most tired-window symptoms in blocks like Remraam are serviceable, and only a couple of things genuinely mean replacement. Stiff sliders are usually worn rollers and dirty tracks (re-roller and clean), draughts and dust ingress are almost always perished brush seals and gaskets (replaceable), and misalignment is adjustable, none of that needs new windows. What DOES mean replacement is cracked or fogged-up sealed glass units, or aluminium frames that are genuinely corroded through rather than just tired. So before anyone quotes a full replacement, get the rollers, seals and alignment done, it restores the vast majority of these community-block windows for a fraction of the cost. Since many flats there share the setup, it's often worth coordinating. Get aluminium and glass work in Dubai to service the rollers and reseal them rather than replace, keep replacement for the genuinely cracked or corroded ones. A track clean and fresh brush seals alone fixes most of the draught-and-dust complaints.
Ours felt ready for replacement and turned out to just need new rollers and seals plus a track clean. Slides like new now and the draught's gone. Worth ruling that out before spending on whole windows.
