Nad Al Sheba villa — the big glass panels are fogging up and a couple have cracked, what are the options?

Jason S.HomeownerVilla ownerAsked 4 Aug 202656 viewsActive

Our Nad Al Sheba villa has some large glass panels and a couple have gone cloudy/foggy between the panes, plus one has a crack. Do we have to replace the whole window units, or can just the glass be done? And with panels this big I'm a bit wary about how it's handled and whether it's the right safety glass. What are the actual options here and what should I be asking for?

Good news on both counts: fogging and a crack usually mean the GLASS needs replacing, not the whole window, and on large panels the spec and handling are exactly what you should be asking about. Foggy/cloudy glass between the panes is a failed double-glazed sealed unit, the edge seal has perished and let moisture in, and the fix is a new sealed unit made to size and fitted into your existing frame; a cracked pane is similarly usually a glass replacement, not a frame one. So you rarely pay for whole new windows. What matters on big panels is that the replacement is the correct SAFETY glass (toughened or laminated as required for the size and location) and that it's measured, made and installed by people equipped to handle large, heavy units safely, that's a genuine two-person, proper-equipment job, not a DIY one. Get glass repair in Dubai to template the failed units and refit safety-rated glass into the existing frames, keep full-window replacement for genuinely damaged frames. Ask specifically for the safety spec on anything large or low-level.

Ours fogged and I assumed new windows, turned out to just be new sealed units into the same frames. Big panels though, definitely get proper people, ours needed the right kit and two installers to do it safely.
