The Springs villas — the windows and sliding doors are ageing (draughts, dust, tired seals), what's the fix?
Our Springs villa's windows and the big sliding doors are showing their age, the sliders are getting stiff, there's a draught, dust seems to get in more than it should, and a couple of the seals look gone. These villas all have similar joinery so I imagine it's common. Is this the point where the windows need replacing, or is there proper upkeep that brings ageing Springs windows back? Trying to judge fix versus replace.

Most of what you're describing on ageing Springs windows is serviceable, and only a couple of things genuinely mean replacement. Stiff sliders are worn rollers plus dirty tracks (re-roller and clean); draughts and dust ingress are perished brush seals and gaskets (replaceable); and a door that won't sit right is usually adjustment, none of that needs new windows. What DOES mean replacement is a cracked or fogged-up double-glazed unit (the seal has failed), or aluminium frames that are genuinely corroded rather than just tired. Ours felt ready for full replacement and just needed rollers, seals and a track clean, slides like new and the draught's gone. The fogged units we did replace the glass on, not the whole window. Big saving once someone actually serviced them properly.
