Muhaisnah villa — the gates, railings and window frames are rusting and tired, repair or refabricate?
Our older villa in Muhaisnah has a lot of metalwork, the main gate, the railings, some window frames, and it's all looking rusty and tired. Do these get repaired and refinished, or is it better to just have them refabricated? It's a dusty area and things seem to age fast. Trying to decide whether to keep patching the existing metalwork or bite the bullet and replace, and what actually lasts out here if we do.

With villa metalwork the decision comes down to how deep the corrosion goes, and a lot of tired-looking gates and railings are repairable, not scrap. Surface rust and a failed paint/powder coating can be stripped back, treated and re-coated so they look and perform like new; it's only steel that's genuinely corroded through, or aluminium that's pitted and failed, that justifies refabricating from scratch. In a dusty area like Muhaisnah the reason it ages fast is usually the original finish giving up and letting moisture and dust attack the metal, so the durable fix is as much about the coating as the metal, a proper prep and a good powder-coat or galvanising, not just a repaint. If you do refabricate, choosing the right material and finish for the exposure is what stops you back here in a few years. Get aluminium fabrication in Dubai to assess whether it's a re-coat or a rebuild, treating and re-coating sound metal is far cheaper than replacing it. Whichever way, the finish is what buys the longevity here.
Our gate looked finished and just needed stripping, treating and re-powder-coating, came back like new for far less than a new one. The railings that were actually rusted through we replaced. Depends entirely how deep it's gone.
